Gary Gait is often regarded as the greatest lacrosse player in the sport’s history. The acclaim isn’t unwarranted — Gait revolutionized the game during his time with Syracuse and in Major League Lacrosse.

Now the coach of the Syracuse women’s lacrosse program, Gait still has the same fire he used to win national and professional titles. But he’s focused now on having the same success at his alma mater. The grind never stops for one of the legends of the game.

After helping leave his mark on the Orange men's lacrosse program, he's determined to do the same in women's lacrosse.

"There are so few champions in the women's game," Gait said. "It’s been so difficult to breakthrough from the traditional schools like Maryland and Northwestern. It takes a special group, and it’s what keeps me up at night.”

While he's not working on building a program, Gait has found a new passion in working with his identical twin brother, Paul, on creating new lacrosse equipment with Gait Lacrosse. His love for lacrosse once came in the form of BTB goals. Now, it shows in his impact in coaching and innovating for the future of the game.
