There were few changes among the latest Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25. Massapequa (N.Y.) is the lone new team to join the rankings after rebounding from a tight loss to Manhasset (N.Y.) with a narrow win over Garden City (N.Y.). Manhasset dropped after a loss to red-hot Wantagh (N.Y.), and the South Region affected the ranking when American Heritage-Delray (Fla.) dropped after a state finals loss to Lake Highland Prep (Fla.). With playoffs gearing up, the rankings could be more fluid next week.

In the Northeast this week, Darien (Conn.) continued to prove why it deserves to be atop the region, furthering its gulf from the pack with a win at St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) following a slow start. Northport (N.Y.) survived another scare and Wantagh (N.Y.) continued to rise keyed by its latest big win – at Manhasset (N.Y.).

There were no changes among the Top 10 in the Mid-Atlantic Region, but the IAAM A Conference semifinals and finals are slated for this week and will pit many of the top teams in the country’s toughest conference against each other in one final push. Unbeatens Glenelg High (Md.), Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) and Century (Md.) also have playoffs on the horizon to test their perfect marks

The South Region saw myriad changes led by Lake Highland (Fla.), which vaulted to No. 1 with its state championship win over American Heritage-Delray (Fla.). Bartram Trail (Fla.) also moved up on the strength of a state title run. Hockaday (Texas) repeated as state champions in Texas, and Milton (Ga.), Blessed Trinity (Ga.) and East Chapel Hill (N.C.) try to do the same this week. Creekview (Ga.) and South Carolina state champ Bishop England join the region rankings.

The Midwest had only one small move with unbeaten Guerin Catholic (Ind.) sliding up a spot. The Top six in the region remain the same paced Upper Arlington (Ohio) which has been tested and stayed perfect so far. The only other unbeaten in the region rankings is Prior Lake (Minn.) which pulled out an overtime win to add to its flawless start.

Playoff action guarantees an exciting finish for the West Region teams. California squads have the chance to make waves with matchups like No. 1 Foothill-Santa Ana facing No. 8 Santa Margarita for a section final. La Jolla (Calif.) returned to the rankings with its late-season run. Colorado teams too gearing up for glory, while Jesuit Portland (Ore.) tries to remain perfect in its state.

In that non-league win May 7, Madison Taylor went beast mode with five goals, four assists and 10 draw controls, Madison Alaimo had five goals and three assists and Eva Ingrilli added three goals and three assists. The Patriots opened eyes with an early-season win over Garden City (N.Y) and they proved they belonged among the nation’s elite by pushing Northport (N.Y.) to the brink in a one-goal defeat. Sayville has caught fire at the right point of the season, a 5-3 win over Eastport-South Manor (N.Y.) on May 7, the Golden Flashes’ 10th in a row. 1. Glenelg Country (Md.), 16-1

The Dragons rolled by Garrison Forest (Md.) 17-5 in the quarterfinals of the IAAM A Conference playoffs. Glenelg Country will take on fourth-seeded Bryn Mawr (Md.) in the semifinals May 10 with finals scheduled for May 13 against the winner of McDonogh (Md) vs. St. Paul’s (Md.). Previous: 1

2. St. Paul’s (Md.), 15-1

The Gators defeated seventh-seeded Notre Dame (Md.) in the quarterfinals of the IAAM A Conference playoffs. Second-seeded (and second-ranked) St. Paul’s faces third-seeded (and third-ranked) McDonogh (Md.) in the semifinals May 10 in a rematch of last year’s championship won by St. Paul’s. Previous: 2

3. McDonogh (Md.), 15-2

The Eagles stormed by Bryn Mawr (Md.) 17-7 to wrap up the regular season on a high note. McDonogh opened the IAAM A Conference playoffs with a 14-8 quarterfinal win over Maryvale (Md.). 4. Glenelg High (Md.), 13-0

Glenelg concluded the regular season with a 22-3 win over Mount Hebron (Md.) on May 4. With the win, the Gladiators earned their second straight Howard County championship. None of their conference contests were decided by fewer than 13 goals. Glenelg awaits the start of the state playoffs where they hope to win their first state title since 2018. Previous: 4

5. Archbishop Carroll (Pa.), 16-0

The Patriots won three Catholic League games in dominant fashion this week. Carroll beat Conwell-Egan Catholic (Pa.) 25-1, stopped St. Hubert (Pa.) 23-1 and defeated Archbishop Ryan (Pa.) 14-2. Each game featured balanced scoring and stalwart defense. Carroll faces a tougher challenge May 10 when it hosts Penn Charter (Pa.). Previous: 5

6. Bryn Mawr (Md.), 11-3

The Mawrtians defeated Archbishop Spalding (Md.) for the second time in a week, 13-8. JJ Suriano made 11 saves and Reese Woodworth and Merrill Watson had four goals each. The win this time enabled fourth-seeded Bryn Mawr to get by the No. 5 seed in the quarterfinals to earn a berth in the semifinals against Glenelg Country (Md.) on May 10. Bryn Mawr dropped their regular-season finale to McDonogh (Md.) 17-7. Previous: 6

7. Archbishop Spalding (Md.), 13-4

The Cavaliers edged Stone Ridge (Md.) 11-10 in their regular-season finale. Their season ended however when fourth-seeded Bryn Mawr beat the fifth-seeded Cavaliers 13-8 in the IAAM A Conference quarterfinals on May 6. Spalding nearly doubled last year’s seven-win total. Previous: 7

8. Summit (N.J.), 13-1

Lauren Riley scored with three seconds left for a 10-9 win over Morristown (N.J.). Summit had to rally from a 9-7 deficit and scored three times in the final 3:20 for the win. Lily Spinner and Jane Freeman each had hat tricks to pace the offense. The Hilltoppers beat Kent Place (N.J.) 16-5 in the Union County Tournament semifinals. They are scheduled to play Oak Knoll (N.J.) in the finals May 9. Summit won the regular-season meeting between the two, 10-8. Previous: 8

9. Century (Md.), 13-0

The Knights edged Liberty (Md.) 8-7 for a second time this year. Caroline Little scored four times and Jasmine Stanton had a hat trick. Century also handled C. Milton Wright (Md.) 16-11. Lauren Hackett and Anna Hackett each fired in five goals. Little had six points on four goals and a pair of assists. Becca Mullinex stopped nine shots in goal. Previous: 9

10. Maryvale (Md.), 13-6

The Lions fell to McDonogh (Md.) 14-8 in the IAAM A Conference quarterfinals to conclude their season. Maryvale earned the No. 6 seed, its second straight season finishing in that spot. Previous: 10

1. Lake Highland Prep (Fla.), 18-2

The Highlanders pulled off a 10-8 upset of American Heritage-Delray (Fla) in the state championship on May 7, avenging a loss in last year’s title game. The title marked the second in Lake Highland Prep program history. Lake Highland Prep trailed 5-3 in the second quarter, but rallied to knot the game at 5-all by halftime. The Highlanders advanced to the championship game thanks to a 14-4 semifinal win over Episcopal School of Jacksonville (Fla.). Previous: 7

2. Hockaday (Texas), 20-1

The Daisies were firing at will in the state championship on May 8, defeating Westlake (Texas) 20-8. The victory marked back-to-back state championships and the fifth overall in the program’s history. Hockaday previously defeated Flower Mound (Texas) 19-13 to advance to the championship. 3. American Heritage-Delray (Fla.), 18-3

The Stallions last lost to an in-state opponent March 6, 2021. That opponent was Lake Highland Prep. After winning 26 in a row versus in-state competition, American Heritage-Delray lost 10-8 in the state championship game to their rival May 7. The defending state champs advanced to the title game thanks to a 20-8 win over Naples (Fla.) in the semifinals. Previous: 1

4. Bartram Trail (Fla.), 22-3

The Bears survived a pair of one-goal contests in the Florida 2A final four to claim a state championship. Bartram Trail earned the title by topping Vero Beach (Fla.) 8-7. Izzy DiFato fired the game-winner in the final two minutes of the championship. Bartram Trail defeated star-studded Steinbrenner (Fla.) 5-4 in the semifinal. Previous: 8

5. Milton (Ga.), 18-3

The Eagles are two wins away from winning their fifth straight 6A-7A state championship after earning a spot into the state final four last week. Milton earned a semifinal berth after topping North Paulding (Ga.) 17-5 in the quarterfinals. Milton also picked up a 15-11 win over West Forsyth (Ga.). Junior midfielder Maeve Simonds returned from injury and has given Milton a huge lift. She scored eight times against West Forsyth and had five tallies versus North Paulding. Previous: 5

6. Steinbrenner (Fla.), 21-3

Despite carrying one of the most talented rosters in the region, the Warriors came one game short of reaching the title game for the second straight year. Steinbrenner fell to eventual 2A state champs Bartram Trail (Fla.) 5-4 on May 6. Kate Prentice and Ciena Solis each scored a pair of goals to keep Steinbrenner in the contest after the Warriors once trailed 5-1. Previous: 2

7. Blessed Trinity (Ga.), 20-1

The Titans easily walked past a pair of opponents last week to put themselves two games away from defending their title. Blessed Trinity clinched a semifinal berth thanks to an 18-6 win over Westminster (Ga.) on May 6. Three days earlier, Blessed Trinity defeated Walker (Ga.) 18-6. Previous: 6

8. East Chapel Hill (N.C.), 16-1

Weather and unplayable conditions forced the finish of the Wildcats’ playoff game against Broughton (N.C.) to get pushed back. East Chapel Hill will look to shake off some rust as the team last completed a game on April 27. Previous: 9

9. Creekview (Ga.), 18-1

The Grizzlies are making their second-straight trip to the state final four after defeating Hillgrove (Ga.) 17-8 in the quarterfinals. Creekview also pulled out a 13-7 win over Cambridge (Ga.) to advance to the quarterfinal round. Previous: NR

10. Bishop England (S.C.), 18-0

The Battling Bishops earned a South Carolina state title after defeating opposition by a combined margin of 337-27. Frances Poch and Elisabeth Tausig each contributed 105 points this season for Bishop England. Previous: NR

The Polar Bears put up another dominant week, topping Shaker Heights (Ohio) and Eastern (Ky.) by double-digit margins. Jackson has a big challenge coming up when it travels to Medina on May 12. Previous: 2

The Eagles were able to overcome four-goal efforts by Bailey Morris and Kate Tyack to edge Dublin Coffman (Ohio), 13-10. This week for New Albany includes a May 13 trip down Interstate 71 to Mason (Ohio). Previous: 3

4. New Trier (Ill.), 13-2

The Trevians put forth a dominant performance against Glenbrook North (Ill.), doubled up on a leading in-state rival in Hinsdale Central and finished with a 17-2 victory over a top Wisconsin team in Arrowhead. Addie Shevitz had multiple goals in all three games, including hat tricks against the Spartans and Red Devils while Grace Curry had four goals against Hinsdale Central and two goals and two assists against Arrowhead. 5. Loyola Academy (Ill.), 11-5

The Ramblers dominated their 2021 state title game rematch with Glenbrook South (Ill.), winning 14-3 behind four goals and two helpers from Catherine Holcomb, two goals and four assists from Adrienne Leone and a sterling all-around effort from Maeve Dwyer (two goals, two assists and four draws). Previous: 5

6. East Grand Rapids (Mich.), 7-1

The Pioneers managed to survive a stern test from Brighton (Mich.), prevailing 15-11. Next up, EGR pursues revenge against a Rockford (Mich.) team that edged it just a few weeks ago. Previous: 6

7. Guerin Catholic (Ind.), 15-0

The Golden Eagles just managed to stay undefeated, edging Blackhawk (Pa.) in overtime May 7 before topping North Allegheny (Pa.) by a healthier margin. Earlier in the week, Guerin Catholic impressed in an 18-7 victory over Zionsville (Ind.), including hat tricks by Caitlin Carter (five goals), Ella Bellflower (four) and Claire Alic (three), all fueled by a 19-6 advantage in draw controls. 8. Hinsdale Central (Ill.), 11-4

The Red Devils nearly lost a heartbreaker the night before taking on the Trevians, edging Lyons Township (Ill.), 6-5. Offense was once again hard to come by against New Trier, but Ella Beargie and Tessa Howe both recorded multiple goals. Previous: 7

9. Prior Lake (Minn.), 8-0

Staying perfect was no easier for the Lakers than it was for the Golden Eagles, as Prior Lake needed overtime to get by Rosemount (Minn.) and then added another one-goal victory against Chanhassen (Minn.). Ava Schlitz recorded hat tricks in both games while Rachel Ward also made an impact all over the field with four groundballs against Rosemount and three goals against Chanhassen. Previous: 9

10. Sycamore (Ohio), 14-2

The Aviators combined for a whopping 40 goals in victories over Lakota East (Ohio) and Dublin Jerome (Ohio), powered by huge performances from Carly Thiel. After recording six goals and three groundballs against Lakota East, Thiel somehow did even better against Dublin Jerome with seven goals, six groundballs and two caused turnovers. 1. Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.), 20-1

The Knights have a chance to repeat as CIF Southern Section Division I champions after beating Edison (Calif.) and Palos Verdes (Calif.) in the first two rounds of the playoffs last week. They now face Santa Margarita (Calif.) in the final May 13. Taylor Puma scored four goals in the 16-10 win over Edison, and Zoey Stephens added two goals and three assists. Previous: 1

Alex May registered three goals, one assist and four ground balls to lead the Mustangs to a 10-5 win over Regis Jesuit (Colo.) in the regular-season finale. The Eagles closed the regular season with a pair of wins against Rock Canyon (Colo.) and Dakota Ridge (Colo.). Eliza Osburn scored five goals and assisted two others in a 19-8 win over Dakota Ridge, and Tess Osburn added four goals and two assists. The Miners returned from a break to win all three of their games last week, including a 19-4 victory at Skyline (Utah) to finish the week. The Vikings came on strong at the end of the regular season and head into the playoffs on a six-game win streak, including a notable 11-10 win over then-No. 7 Torrey Pines (Calif.) on May 5 and an 11-8 victory against previously-ranked Scripps Ranch (Calif.) to begin the week. The Knights are the third-seeded team in the CHSAA Class 5A playoffs and head into the postseason on a 13-game winning streak after opening with losses to the two Colorado teams ranked above them. Fairview added wins against Denver East (Colo.) and Poudre District (Colo.) last week. Cami Johnson led the attack with four goals and one assist, Finnley Dancy added three goals and two assists and Allie Hartman tallied four goals against Denver East. Anne Booth made 10 saves in goal. The Eagles avenged one of their two losses from the regular season when they beat former No. 10-ranked Redondo Union (Calif.) in the CIF Southern Section Division I semifinals May 7. They had lost to Redondo by one goal on Feb. 22 and pulled out a 14-12 victory this time to advance to the championship May 13 against Foothill, which handed Santa Margarita its other loss March 1. Previous: NR

9. Torrey Pines (Calif.), 13-4

The Falcons won the Avocado League with an unbeaten record in those games and head into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the CIF San Diego Open Division after going 2-1 last week to finish the regular season. Torrey Pines gave up a last-second goal to fall to La Jolla (Calif.) 11-10, but had wins against Poway (Calif.) and Del Norte (Calif.). Laurel Gonzalez had four goals against Poway, while Reese Loseke added two goals and four assists and goalie Camille Samarasinghe made nine saves.
