Vero Beach rolled on with a 17-1 win over Sebastian River in a first-round state play-in game. Presley Wakeland led the Fighting Indians with three goals, four groundballs and two caused turnovers. They play Benjamin on Tuesday in the second round. Benjamin beat Cardinal Newman 13-11. Vero Beach is trying to regain the state title lost last year when its string of 10 consecutive state championships was ended in the finals. Previous: 1
2. Hutchison (Tenn.), 13-0
The Sting remained unbeaten with wins over Holy Cross (Md.) and Houston (Tenn.). Coach David Gearhardt called the 18-17 win over Holy Cross the “toughest game of the season,” but it didn’t seem to wear on his players, as they followed with a 22-8 win over Houston. 3. Milton (Ga.), 10-3
What a week for the Eagles, who returned from an eight-day layoff to collect a huge 12-6 win over Conestoga (Pa.), ranked No. 21 in the country at the time. Milton held a narrow 3-2 lead at the half, committed three consecutive turnovers to give it up, but then scored eight straight goals to take an 11-4 lead. Lexi Morton had five goals in the win, and Sophie Baez three. Bridget Deehan had 14 saves. The Eagles finished the week with a 13-7 win over Chattahoochee (Ga.). They trailed 7-6 at the half, but scored seven straight for the win, which Deehan preserved with nine saves. The Eagles, winners of five straight against outstanding competition, play four games this week against West Forsyth (Ga.), Sacred Heart (N.Y.), Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.) and Bishop Ironton (Va.). 4. American Heritage-Delray (Fla.), 18-0
The Stallions advanced to the second round of the FHSAA state play-ins with a 19-2 win over King’s Academy. They will face Pinecrest (Fla.) on Tuesday for a chance to move to the third round, which is the regional championship game. They beat Pinecrest 14-6 on March 2. Previous: 5
5. North Gwinnett (Ga.), 14-1
The Bulldogs returned from spring break with a 24-4 win over Collins Hill (Ga.), but suffered their first loss of the season two days later, an 11-10 setback against Northview (Ga.). Haley Gorke and Parker Nevels each scored three goals for North Gwinnett. The Bulldogs have another challenging game Tuesday against Cambridge (Ga.). Previous: 4
6. Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.), 13-1
The Crusaders rolled on with in-state wins against East Chapel Hill and Harrington. They take a swing through Georgia this week with games against Chattahoochee and Milton. The match-up against Milton could be one of the best in the South region this season. Gibbons has won six straight since its 29-game win streak ended in March. Previous: 6
7. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), 16-1
The Raiders beat Cooper City (Fla.) 16-4 in the first-round of the state play-ins. That sets up a second-round game with Ransom Everglades (20-2) on Tuesday. The teams have not met previously, but they do have one common opponent. St. Thomas beat Pinecrest 14-9. Pinecrest beat Ransom 20-7. Previous: 7
8. Lassiter (Ga.), 12-3
The Trojans returned from spring break with one of their toughest opponents of the season and couldn’t pull off the upset, losing 12-4 to Conestoga (Pa.), which was ranked No. 21 nationally last week. They rebounded with a 22-0 win over Woodstock (Ga.) and now face a showdown with Walton (Ga.) on Saturday. Previous: 8

The Titans move into the rankings, despite being idle last week, based on earlier wins against formerly-ranked Walton (Ga.), as well as Mill Creek, which is having a strong year. The Titans return to action this week after spring break. Previous: NR

A week after defeating then top-ranked Loyola Academy (Ill.), the Golden Bears followed with a 21-0 shutout over Marysville (Ohio) on April 11 and a 22-1 win over Pickerington North (Ohio) on Thursday. Liz Davide, a future Butler Bulldog, led the way with 10 goals last week in a trio of wins for the Polar Bears. Jackson started the week with a 13-3 win over Cleveland Heights (Ohio), followed by a 15-5 win over Hudson (Ohio) and a 15-2 win over Shaker Heights (Ohio). Previous: 5

After Massillon Jackson handed the Eagles their first loss of the season, New Albany soared last week with three wins. The week started with blowout wins over Olentangy Orange (Ohio) and Westerville North (Ohio) before New Albany eked out a 9-8 victory over previously unbeaten Indian Hill (Ohio). Gracie Pine played a huge role in New Albany’s win over Indian Hill, contributing four goals. Previous: 6

New Trier won its fourth in a row with a 13-9 victory over Montini Catholic (Ill.) on Wednesday. Last week’s regional player of the week Katherine Gjertsen had two goals and an assist, as New Trier used a balanced scoring attack over Montini. Previous: 7

The Falcons enjoyed a well-deserved break last week, coming off an impressive win over Mater Dei (Calif.) on April 7. They resume play Tuesday against La Costa Canyon (Calif.) and have to get through five more games to complete an undefeated regular-season. Previous: 1

A trip north proved beneficial to the Hornets, as they shook off their first loss in 43 games -- a one-goal upset by Davis (Calif.) -- with a trio of wins in Oregon. Novato outscored their opponents 59-15 during the trip including a notable 19-6 win over West-ranked Lake Oswego (Ore.). Charlie Rudy led the team with 10 goals, while adding three assists, against Oswego. Previous: 2
3. Colorado Academy (Colo.), 6-1
The Mustangs experienced their first close game this season (even their loss to Novato was a blowout), but survived the test with an 11-10 win over Kent Denver (Colo.). Sloane Murphy paced Colorado with five goals on six shots, and Bridget Sutter collected 10 saves to preserve the win. Previous: 3
4. St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) 6-4
Coach Amy Harms is hoping the two-week break from action brings her team back refreshed and ready to go after a tough stretch that resulted in four losses in five games. They look to shake off a one-goal loss to Carondelet (Calif.) as they head into another difficult portion in the schedule. The Monarchs didn’t let their April 7 loss to Torrey Pines hang over them, as they responded with a 19-7 win over Los Alamitos (Calif.) on April 11 in their only game last week. The Grizzlies went 2-0 last week but received a scare from Dougherty Valley (Calif.) in a 10-9 decision. The Lakers added a pair of lopsided in-state wins last week before falling to Novato, 19-6. Carlie Leach had six goals on seven shots in a 14-2 win over St. Mary’s Academy (Ore.) and tallied three goals and one assist, along with Katie Gilbert, in an 18-3 victory over Lakeridge (Ore.). The Titans went 3-0 last week, beating three quality opponents by 11 goals or more on the road. They handed Chaminade College Prep (Calif.) just its second loss, 19-8, on Wednesday, topped Oak Park 15-3 on Friday and finished the week with a 16-4 win at Palos Verdes (Calif.).
