Penn State’s Grant Ament announced Sunday on Instagram that he will not return to Penn State next season, even though the NCAA “has been extremely gracious and has granted all spring athletes an extra year of eligibility in lieu of the cancellation.”
Ament, who called this past week a “rollercoaster of emotions,” ends his Penn State career with 280 points and 189 assists, both Penn State and Big Ten career records.
The Doylestown, Pa., native also holds the NCAA’s single-season assists record (96) and the NCAA tournament record for points (25). He was a Tewaaraton finalist and the Lt. Col. J.I. (Jack) Turnbull Award for Outstanding Attackman winner in 2019.
In all likelihood, Ament will be one of the most sought-after players in the upcoming professional drafts.
