Welcome to another Year, lacrosse fans. For USA Lacrosse Magazine, it’s our 45th in circulation.

The title has changed on several occasions. You may have known us as Lacrosse Magazine, Lacrosse (no Magazine) or US Lacrosse Magazine when we first met. Some of you may even remember Lax Mag for Kids or a time when the pages of this publication were so large it could hardly fit in your mailbox (everything was bigger in the ’80s) or so abundant that a perfect-bound 200-page book felt more like an encyclopedia in your hands.

No matter where we’ve intersected in our respective journeys, however, you’ll undoubtedly recognize some time-honored traditions in this, our first edition of 2022 — including features on our annual Preseason Players of the Year for NCAA Division I, II and III men’s and women’s lacrosse. We’ve also projected three teams of All-Americans in each division and award winners at each position.

This is the first of two NCAA preview editions. Coming in February: team rankings and capsules, another ambitious undertaking that has remained a staple of our work that has now spanned parts of six decades.

Why multiple parts? In lacrosse, you see, college is still king and the appetite for news and features devoted to the college game remains insatiable. That’s why we’ll be busy as ever bringing you all the updates online at USALaxMagazine.com and on social media @USALacrosseMag.

Only a casual observer of the sport? Then sign up for our weekly newsletter at usalaxmagazine.com/newsletter or catch up daily with our “Dialed In” series at usalaxmagazine.com/dialedin.

Before then, feast your eyes on our cover story on Mike Sisselberger, Lehigh’s own Paul Bunyan — yet another must-read feature by Nelson Rice, brought to life by the incredible talents of photographer Steve Boyle and art director Heather Hughes. The photo shoot took place at the old Bethlehem Steel site, the perfect setting to portray someone who spends his summers grinding rust off dumpsters and wrestles heavyweights for fun. Like Sisselberger, we love to grind. Here’s to another season.
