A new sport has captured the imagination of children in one of Cleveland’s oldest and most diverse neighborhoods.

US Lacrosse unveiled a major investment in Ohio City on Sept. 15, cutting the ribbon on a small-sided lacrosse field at Urban Community School. Along with its North Coast Ohio chapter, the sport’s national governing body has committed $300,000 in local and national funds as part of the Lacrosse Communities Project.

The cover story of the November edition of US Lacrosse Magazine, by staff writer Matt Hamilton, delves into the lives of the Ohio City kids who will benefit from additional playing opportunities and details the scope of this historic initiative.

Also in this edition, our annual “Gym Rats” package features Team USA defender Megan Douty and Chesapeake Bayhawks midfielder Myles Jones, we go inside the Ohio Machine’s run to the Major League Lacrosse championship, we examine further the significant rules changes that developed in the offseason, and regionally targeted content shows how US Lacrosse is growing the game from coast to coast.
