One of the most coveted players in the NCAA transfer portal is off the market.

Ty Xanders of Inside Lacrosse reported Tuesday that Jackson Morrill, a USILA third-team Division I All-American in 2019, will transfer to Denver. The No. 2 all-time scorer at Yale, Morrill is unable to return to the Bulldogs due to the Ivy League's rules regarding graduate students participating in athletics.

Morrill compiled seven goals and eight assists in four games this season, helping Yale to a 3-1 mark. He heads to Denver to join Ethan Walker (who Xanders said is also expected to return) as one of the top 1-2 punches in lacrosse. Given that Denver assistant Matt Brown is a highly regarded offensive coach, the Pioneers offense stands to improve upon its 24th-ranked scoring offense.

Those close to the sport speculated that Morrill could transfer to Johns Hopkins. He is from the Baltimore area and graduated from nearby McDonogh (Md.), plus his family includes three National Lacrosse Hall of Famers who are alumni of the program.

His father, Mike Morrill, was a two-time All-American and NCAA champion in the late 1980s. His grandfather, William Morrill Jr., graduated in 1959 as Hopkins’ all-time leading scorer. He was a three-time All-American and a two-time national champion. His great-grandfather, the late William Kelso Morrill, led Hopkins to two national titles in 16 seasons as head coach and also graduated from the university in 1927.

Instead, Morrill is heading out west.
