Jake Carraway could not be denied during Sunday’s 16-1 win over Villanova.
The graduate student scored eight goals and included one assist for good measure as Georgetown toppled the Wildcats 16-1. The Hoyas moved up to No. 5 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Top 20, and Carraway earned US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors as a result.
Carraway is now just one goal away from tying Georgetown’s career record of 153, held by Dan Bucaro, Carraway’s former teammate. Carraway is also 13 points shy of the program’s all-time record of 236, set by Greg McCavera (1996-99).
Underestimated no more, Carraway and the Hoyas made a statement by holding then-No. 20 Villanova to a single goal — and Carraway may have firmly positioned himself in the Tewaaraton Award conversation in the process.
