James Reilly’s first meeting against Denver on March 16 didn’t yield a performance to write home about. Georgetown’s junior faceoff man went just 11-for-23 against the Pios, resulting in a the Hoyas’ only loss of the 2021 season.
In the pivotal Big East rematch on Saturday, Reilly flipped the script. He went 16-for-24 and effectively neutralized the combination of TD Ierlan (4-for-12) and Alec Stathakis (4-for-12) as Georgetown earned an 11-10 win.
Reilly, the Conestoga (Pa.) product, is the US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Player of the Week.
Reilly ranks 11th in the nation with a .640 winning percentage, a continuation of the success he saw during last spring’s shortened season (.689).
