The No. 1 team in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Top 20 at the time of the season’s abrupt end due to COVID-19, Syracuse boasted arguably the top midfield in the country. Headlined by Trimboli’s 3.4 goals per game — tops in the nation amongst midfielders — the unit returns intact next season.
The Victor (N.Y.) product was a USILA Honorable Mention All-American in both 2018 and 2019. In 2017, he was the first true freshman at Syracuse to start 10 or more games since Pat Perritt in 2006.
Syracuse has already reloaded ahead of 2021. Trimboli, goalie Drake Porter, faceoff specialist Danny Varello and midfielder Peter Dearth will all be back. Defender Nick Mellen has opted to not return.
