For the second year in a row, a product of the Cornell men’s lacrosse team went first overall in the NLL Entry Draft.

Last year, it was Jeff Teat to the New York Riptide. This year, Jonathan Donville has earned the distinction as the top pick, going No. 1 to Panther City Lacrosse Club in Saturday night’s virtual draft.

Donville’s career with Cornell was largely cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, which shortened his 2020 campaign and outright canceled the season in 2021. Still, he posted 90 points in two-plus seasons, proving a capable secondary option behind Teat when the two were on the field together.

Tehoka Nanticoke was notably drafted third overall by the Buffalo Bandits. Nanticoke was dismissed from the Albany men’s lacrosse team in April, and it remained unclear up to this point if he would transfer to another university to finish his NCAA career. Instead, he’ll take his talents to the NLL.
