Boston College associate director of athletic communications Lizz Summers released the following updated statement regarding senior attacker Kenzie Kent's play in 2018, contradicting an earlier statement from the athletic department that she will not play lacrosse this spring.

“As has been the case in the last three seasons, she focuses on hockey until that season is over – usually in March – and then moves her attention to lacrosse," Summers said. "This year, as a captain of the hockey team, that’s especially true with her leadership role with them.”

Kenzie Kent was the first player from a losing team in an NCAA Division I women's lacrosse championship to be named its most outstanding player in 2017.

After joining the lacrosse lineup March 29, 2017, she finished third on the team with 77 points in 12 games.

In the 16-13 NCAA championship loss to Maryland, Kent tallied five goals and five assists for 10 points, which tied an NCAA record. The two-sport star scored a total of 21 goals and shattered the NCAA record for points with 37 in the Eagles’ five-game NCAA tournament run. The previous record was 26.

In August, the Boston Pride selected Kent fourth in the National Women’s Hockey League, and in November, the Boston Storm drafted her third overall in the United Women’s Lacrosse League.

For her standout year, Kent was featured on the cover of the December issue of US Lacrosse Magazine, the 2017 best of lacrosse edition.

The No. 2 ranked Boston College women’s ice hockey team is currently 15-1-3, most recently defeating Merrimack 4-2 on Saturday in a three-game series. In 19 games, Kent has four goals, seven assists and 15 blocks. The NCAA women’s ice hockey tournament concludes March 18, 2018.

The 2017 hockey season marked the seventh time in program history the Eagles ended its campaign in the Frozen Four, including each of Kent's first three years on the team.

The reigning ACC Female Athlete of the Year has played in four final fours, three in hockey and one in lacrosse.
