SPARKS, Md. — Lax Sports Network will provide live coverage of the U.S. men’s senior and U19 teams in action from the Spring Premiere in San Antonio, Texas the weekend of Jan. 4-5, 2020.

The U.S. men’s senior team will play Japan on Jan. 4 at 3:30 p.m. and then play a Blue-White intra-squad game on Jan. 5 at 10:30 a.m. The U.S. men’s U19 team will play Edge Lacrosse from Canada on Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. and then meet up with Japan on Jan. 5 at 8:30 a.m. (All times Central Standard Time).

Travis Eldridge will provide play-by-coverage with US Lacrosse Magazine editor Matt DaSilva on color analysis for all four games.

The U.S. men’s senior team will have a mixture of star power and players making their Team USA competition debuts. Head coach John Danowski led the U.S. team to the gold medal in Israel in 2018 and 10 players from that squad are participating in the Spring Premiere, including all four of the players that earned All-World recognition: Ryan Brown, Michael Erhardt (MVP), Rob Pannell and Tom Schreiber.

But it was also be a chance for Danowski to take a look at some of the new faces in the U.S. team player pool. Ten of the 37 players suiting up for the Spring Premiere will be playing in a Team USA uniform for the first time.

Among the intriguing new names are Kyle Bernlohr and Tyler Warner, who helped Whipsnakes LC win the inaugural Premier Lacrosse League championship, and Colin Heacock, who ranked sixth in Major League Lacrosse with 37 goals, helping Chesapeake win the MLL title.

U.S. U19 head coach Nick Myers trimmed his roster to 26 players following a training camp at Ohio State last month and will need to get down to the World Lacrosse mandated roster size of 23 before the World Lacrosse Men’s U19 World Championship from July 9-18, 2020 in Limerick, Ireland. The Spring Premiere marks the final training opportunity for Myers and his team until early June as they gear to try and win the ninth straight gold medal for the United States.
