For most of the 2018 season, Le Moyne was a steady presence near the top of the Nike/US Lacrosse Division II Women's Top 20. Week after week, the Dolphins were among the top three or four teams in the poll, but never did they occupy the top spot. Until now.

Coming off the program’s first national championship, punctuated with a 16-11 victory over Florida Southern in the final game, Le Moyne concludes the 2018 season on top of the rankings. National runner-up FSC, which held the top spot for six straight weeks during the campaign, finishes as No. 2.

Lindenwood, the No. 1 team at the start of the postseason, finished third, followed by No. 4 West Chester and No. 5 Adelphi.

The NE10 was the only league to finish the year with two teams (Le Moyne & Adelphi) among the top five, while the PSAC, RMAC and SSC were each represented by two teams in the top 10.

Mercyhurst (+4)

With wins in seven of eight games down the stretch, the Lakers finished third in the PSAC during the regular season and made a run to their fifth straight league final. They finished as the PSAC’s championship runner-up and secured an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost 12-11 against conference-rival and eventual national semifinalist East Stroudsburg in the first round.

Le Moyne (+3)

The Dolphins were nearly flawless in 2018, starting the season with 15 straight wins and closing the year with seven straight victories. The only blemish came against NE10 rival Adelphi, 11-8, on April 25. Le Moyne avenged that loss with back-to-back wins over the Panthers in the NE10 championship game and again in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Le Moyne's 22 victories tied the NCAA Division II record for wins in a season.

East Stroudsburg (+3)

The Warriors closed the regular season with a nine-game winning streak before falling to Mercyhurst in the PSAC semifinals. They exacted revenge for that loss one week later by defeating the Lakers in the NCAA’s first round, a victory that jump started a run to their first appearance in the national semifinals. ESU posted its first two NCAA postseason wins in program history before losing 20-14 to FSC in the final four.

Indianapolis (-4)

The Greyhounds enjoyed a 10-game winning streak before falling hard, 21-6, against Regis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Despite the loss, the third year program set a new record with 16 wins, won the GLIAC title and earned its first NCAA appearance.
