Northeast-10 Conference rivals Le Moyne and Adelphi maintained their hold on the top two spots in this week’s Nike/US Lacrosse Division II Women’s Top 20, while Lindenwood jumped one spot to No. 3 following a road win at No. 14 Colorado Mesa.  

No. 12 Assumption moved into the poll for the first time this year after improving to 4-0 with a 13-12 road win over then-No. 9 Mercy. The victory over the Mavericks is the first-ever for Assumption against a top-10 team. Bentley, 2-0 overall, also joined the ranking this week. There are nine undefeated teams among this week’s Top 20.

Mercyhurst climbed one spot to No. 10 this week after running its record to 3-0 overall. The undefeated Lakers host No. 1 Le Moyne Wednesday in one of the top games of the week ahead.

St. Leo (+3)

The Lions are off to the best start in program history with a 7-0 record following three victories last week. St. Leo capped its week with an 18-4 win over Lenoir-Rhyne. Sabrina Sanacore and Lexie Walstad combined for nine goals to lead the way.

Grand Valley State (-7)

GVSU ended its three-game spring trip with back-to-back losses against Colorado Mesa and Regis, falling to 3-2 on the year. The Lakers were tied against No. 7 Regis midway through the second half, but outscored 6-3 over the final 12 minutes in a 15-12 loss.

East Stroudsburg (-6)

Despite a career-high five goals by Hana Cicerelle, ESU squandered a two-goal halftime lead in an 11-10 home loss to No. 17 Pace. The Warriors play their final non-conference game Wednesday against No. 8 LIU Post before beginning their 12-game PSAC slate.

Assumption

Assumption rallied from a four-goal second half deficit by outscoring then No. 9 Mercy 7-2 over the final 21 minutes to record its first win over a top 10 opponent. Senior Sarah Reilly fueled the upset with four goals and three assists. The Hounds are off to their best start since posting a similar 4-0 record to begin the 2015 campaign.

Bentley

Cara McCarthy’s goal 1:31 into overtime capped a five-goal comeback as the Falcons defeated then No. 16 NYIT, 12-11. Julia Glavin finished with a game-high seven goals for Bentley, including four goals during its comeback rally.

OUT

NYIT (formerly No. 16)

NYIT falls to 2-1 on the year following its overtime loss to Bentley. Now in their third varsity season, the Bears were ranked 17th in the preseason.

Merrimack (formerly No. 20)

The Warriors drop out of the ranking after losing 15-8 to unranked UMass Lowell last week. Merrimack hosts No. 17 Pace on Saturday.
