Jordan Levine, who led Mercy to the Division II national championship game last month, has been named the next head coach of LIU. The university announced the hire Monday morning.
LIU players were notified at 9 p.m. last night of the hiring.
Levine, who was also the associate director of athletics at Mercy, has been the program’s head coach since 2012. He’s been with the program since 2008.
Mercy’s win over Le Moyne in the NCAA semifinals this spring brought the Mavericks to the first NCAA title game in program history — and also made the team the first program in Mercy athletics history to advance that far.
Levine replaces Eric Wolf, who left LIU for NJIT last week. Wolf led LIU through its final two years as a Division II program and then in its first two (2021 and 2022) as a Division I team. LIU has made consecutive NEC tournament appearances.
