To the surprise of no one, Lyle Thompson was the No. 1 overall pick to Cannons LC in the Premier Lacrosse League Entry Draft on Thursday night.

The draft, held over Twitter Spaces, marked the official final stage in the merger between the PLL and Major League Lacrosse, a move that was announced in December. Now with one unified outdoor professional league, lacrosse has the best players in the world on one stage.

Elsewhere in the first round, three former Denver Outlaws — Dan Bucaro, Chris Aslanian and Max Alder — were selected. Cannons LC coach Sean Quirk also reuinted with a familiar face in Zach Goodrich, arguably the top SSDM in professional lacrosse.
