BOSTON, Mass. — Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today the 2020 regular season schedule. This season, each team will have five home games and five away games, facing each of their opponents twice. The season is twelve weeks long, affording each team two bye weeks.
“We have been working extremely hard this offseason, and we are thrilled to present the 2020 schedule,” said MLL Commissioner Alexander Brown. “In each market, fans will have the opportunity to watch their team compete against each team in the league. This schedule offers the perfect balance for fans to enjoy the best lacrosse has to offer and for our players to compete at the highest level.”
In the first week of the season, the Chesapeake Bayhawks will host the Denver Outlaws. This will be a rematch of the 2019 MLL championship. The Outlaws fell to the Bayhawks in Denver in the championship game last season, 10-9.
The first week of the season will also see the two most recently announced teams face one another. On Feb. 11, Major League Lacrosse announced the inception of the Connecticut Hammerheads, led by head coach Bill Warder. Earlier this week, Major League Lacrosse announced that the Philadelphia Barrage are back and will be led by Spencer Ford. We expect to see quite the battle when the Hammerheads and Barrage face off in their first game of the 2020 season.
On July 4th, Major League Lacrosse will present two games. Fans in Annapolis can enjoy a Fourth of July celebration cheering on the Bayhawks as they host the New York Lizards. Out in Denver, fans from across the state of Colorado will venture to Mile High Stadium for the fifteenth year of the Mile High Fourth of July. The Outlaws will matchup against the Philadelphia Barrage for what has become the No. 1 destination in Colorado for Fourth of July celebrations. Thirty-thousand fans will enjoy an unbelievable night of lacrosse and fireworks.
The last week of the regular season will take place Aug. 15, with all six teams competing. Two teams that have been a part of the league since its inception will face off when the Lizards host the Bayhawks. Also that weekend, the Boston Cannons host the Barrage and the Outlaws host the Hammerheads.
