McDonogh (Md.) passed its first major tests of the season, defeating Haverford School (Pa.) and Chaminade (N.Y.) to strengthen its hold on the No. 1 spot in the Nike/US Lacrosse National High School Boys' National Top 25. Two more nationally ranked foes loom this week for the Eagles, who host No. 14 Culver Academy (Ind.) and No. 4 Bullis (Md.) on Wednesday and Friday, respectively. Talk about a brutal season-opening stretch.
The biggest movers this week are St. Paul's (Md.), which jumped 10 spots to No. 11 with an OT win over Haverford School, and Malvern Prep (Pa.), which is up seven spots and into the Top 10 after handily defeating Calvert Hall (Md.) and Garnet Valley (Pa.).

The defending Class C state champion Seahawks scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter to rally for a 10-9 season-opening win over Smithtown West (N.Y.). Taylor Strough finished with five goals and one assist, Ian Laviano added four goals and Chris Porzelt recorded 10 saves for CSH. The Seahawks play at Syosset (N.Y.) Tuesday. Previous: 9

The Friars got off to an impressive start with two comfortable wins over quality competition. Jack Traynor (Penn State) had three goals and three assists in a 13-7 defeat of previously ranked Calvert Hall (Md.) on March 21 and added three more goals and an assist Saturday in a 15-6 win over Garnet Valley (Pa.). The Fords bounced back from two losses to start the season with an attention-grabbing win on Sunday. Peter Garno scored in double overtime to hand Culver Academy (Ind.) its first loss, 8-7. The Virginia recruit leads the team with six goals and three assists so far. Previous: 4

The Eagles couldn’t get their offense going in a 7-3 loss to Bullis on Friday. That wasn’t an issue a day later as they piled up 20 goals in a rout of Bishop Ireton (Va.). They’ve got chances to pick up marquee wins this week against Culver (Ind.) and Boys’ Latin. Previous: 6

After falling just short of a Pennsylvania state title last spring, the Explorers have all the pieces for another deep postseason run. 1. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), 13-1
The Raiders took their first trip north in program history and split two games on Long Island. They lost 13-10 to Massapequa (N.Y.), which has nine Division I commits, but recovered to beat Dominic (N.Y.) 14-8. The 13 goals surrendered to Massapequa were the most allowed by the Raiders this season. Aquinas finishes the regular season this week against Jupiter (Fla.). Previous: 1
2. Highland Park (Texas), 7-1
The Scots beat Keller (Texas) and Plano West (Texas) this week, rebounding nicely from their lone loss. All eyes will be on the Scots Saturday when they take on undefeated The Woodlands at home. Games with two other top Texas teams, Episcopal Dallas and Dallas Jesuit, are on the schedule later in April. Previous: 2
3. Lambert (Ga.), 9-1
The Longhorns picked up another decisive win last week, beating Chattahoochee (Ga.) 19-2. After a game with Milton (Ga.), the Longhorns take on 9-1 Westminster (Ga.) on Saturday. They squeezed past Westminster 7-6 last year, which was the narrowest win in the Longhorns’ unbeaten season. Traditional small-school power Westminster already has a win over Lassiter this season. 4. The Woodlands (Texas), 15-0
The Highlanders remain unbeaten after getting in-state wins over Strake Jesuit and Kinkaid last week. The game everyone is waiting for is Saturday when the Highlanders take on Highland Park in a meeting of two Texas powerhouses. Previous: 4
5. Lassiter (Ga.), 7-1
The Trojans picked up wins against Woodstock (Ga.) and Etowah (Ga.) to rebound from their only loss of the year to Westminster (Ga.). They play ranked Centennial (Ga.) and Allatoona (Ga.) this week before spring break. Previous: 5
6. Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.), 7-1
The Crusaders stretched their current win streak to three games with wins over East Chapel Hill (N.C.) and Wilmington Hoggard (N.C.). East Chapel Hill had just one loss going into that game. The Knights beat Brookwood (Ga.) 20-4 in their only game of the week, behind strong performances from Colin Hall (four goals, two assists) and Jeremy Sartin (four goals, five assists). The Sharks had a huge week, picking up four wins as the regular season winds down. After easily dispatching Episcopal Academy (Pa.) by an 11-6 ledger on Saturday, Culver was handed its first loss of the year in an 8-7 double-overtime thriller at nationally-ranked Haverford School (Pa.) on Sunday. St. Xavier dropped the bomb on its opponents by winning three contests last week by a combined 65-9 margin. The Bombers easily dispatched in-state opponents Milford, Loveland and Thomas Worthington. The Shamrocks are off to a 2-0 start after wins last week against Grosse Point South (Mich.) and New Trier (Ill.). Goaltender Hunter Braun stood on his head against New Trier with 17 saves. Coach Dave Wilson notched his 150th career win at DCC in the win over Grosse Point South. Previous: 8

After taking losses against Culver and Carmel (Ind.), DeSmet Jesuit pieced together a dominating week, topping Marquette (Mo.) 16-1 on March 21, followed by a 21-3 win at O’Fallon Township (Ill.) on Friday. The Falcons haven’t let up since securing notable wins over St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) and Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.). In their only action last week, they doubled up on St. Margarets Episcopal (Calif.) for a 14-7 road win, despite having a possession disadvantage off faceoffs. Previous: 1

The Mustangs cruised to a 19-4 victory at Livermore (Calif.) in their only game last week to extend their win streak to six straight since their only loss to St. Ignatius Prep. The matchup with Livermore was the start of a six-game road stretch for Monte Vista, including a date with Poway on April 3. Previous: 7
6. La Costa Canyon (Calif.), 4-1
The Mavericks slide into the rankings after topping then-No. 4 Poway (Calif.), 8-7, on Friday, and they can further prove themselves Tuesday against Regis Jesuit. The Wolverines’ offense has slowed a bit over their last two games since securing a notable 15-2 win at Issaquah (Wash.) on March 17, but the defense has held steady in preserving a 7-5 win over Woodinville (Wash.) and a 9-2 victory over Eastlake (Wash.).
