After Chris Jastrzembski of Turner Sports reported Thursday that Marcus Hudgins — one of the gems of the transfer portal this summer — would transfer to Ohio State, Buckeyes head coach Nick Myers confirmed the addition with USA Lacrosse Magazine.
Hudgins confirmed that he will join the Buckeyes in a post on Instragram.
Hudgins, an All-American defender with Army who sat out all of last season due to what’s been called “personal reasons,” joins a defense that already boasts a breakout star in Bobby Van Buren. Hudgins will have two years of eligibility remaining, according to Inside Lacrosse.
The 2021 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Hudgins started all 11 games for the nation’s No. 5 defense, producing 36 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers. He might have been even better during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, averaging 2.5 caused turnovers per game (30 overall) with 26 ground balls as Army’s top cover man.
