Lance Basler played high school lacrosse growing up in Idaho and a year of club ball in college before prepping for a career in operations for college football programs.

He worked with the programs at Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee State, Missouri and San Diego State before joining the US Lacrosse staff in 2015. Earlier this year, he was promoted to general manager for all of the U.S. national teams.

What does your job entail?

I’m responsible for organizing their training camps, coordinating team travel, working with our partners and sponsors on equipment and apparel needs and working with our marketing and partnerships teams to help elevate the Team USA brand.

What’s it like working with the players?

They’re the best players in the world, but they don’t act like they are. They have a humble, workmanlike attitude and then they go out on the field and they’re just so competitive. It’s evident that they’re thrilled to be a part of Team USA and getting to wear the shield.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

At the end of the day, when it comes to July or August at a world championship, I know that throughout the last two years I’ve done everything I can to let the players and coaches focus on the task at hand, alleviating the outside stresses. Getting to be a part of that is an awesome feeling.
