Best of Lacrosse 2023: Vote for Best Lacrosse Cameo

December 7, 2023
Kenny DeJohn

Welcome to #BestOfLacrosse2023. Help us celebrate the past year of lacrosse by voting in 15 polls over 15 weekdays in December, beginning Monday, Dec. 4. All voting will be conducted on X (@usalacrossemag), and fans will have 24 hours to make their selections.

For more information — including upcoming categories, rules and more — check out our introductory post to #BestOfLacrosse2023.

One could argue that lacrosse hit the mainstream more in 2023 than ever before. And the momentum is only going to continue to build.

Lacrosse popularity is booming, and stars in other sports took time in 2023 to either express their love for lacrosse or comment on their perceived ability in the game. Only one can win in Best of Lacrosse.

Here are the nominees for Best Lacrosse Cameo.

BEST IN CONTENT

DEION SANDERS

Coach Prime makes headlines everywhere he goes. At Colorado, he’s stopped by lacrosse practices and even expressed the confidence — not like Prime lacks anything in that department — that he’d be pretty good at the sport, too.

RUSSELL WILSON & CIARA

Russell Wilson is a big lacrosse guy. Self-proclaimed, sure, but Wilson enjoyed a weekend when the Premier Lacrosse League went to Denver this summer and talked here about his friendship with Mikey Thompson. The only question left to answer is which position the Super Bowl-winning quarterback would play. His wife, Ciara, rocked a Boston Cannons jersey while in attendance.

STEFON DIGGS

Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs showed up to a home game a few weeks ago wearing a throwback Rochester Rattlers jersey, catching the attention of guys like John Galloway and other former Major League Lacrosse greats.

BILL WALTON

Bill Walton is a living, breathing enigma. When he talks, you listen — even when it has nothing to do with his expertise, basketball. Shoutout to Chris Cotter for keeping Walton’s commentary on track.
