Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. And so it begins.
The 2023 NCAA lacrosse season opened this weekend. Of the seven men’s teams in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Top in action this weekend, six of them were victorious, but Johns Hopkins went on the road and upset No. 18 Jacksonville 12-7. Check out what happened in our new weekly column, The Post-Week Tailgate.
2. Ted Lasso and poetry is a beautiful thing.
A thread to fully appreciate the season.

3. Bandits on top.
Buffalo moved a half-game ahead of Rochester in the National Lacrosse League East with a 13-10 win over the Knighthawks on Saturday. Dhane Smith had a monster 10-point game for the Bandits, scoring four goals while adding six assists.
Buffalo also paid tribute to a local fixture in the Western New York lacrosse community – Pat Lally, a longtime supporter of the sport who died in January.
4. Celebrating Black History Month
Former Cornell player Melinda Vaughn Wright went on to coach at Howard, reconnecting her to the game. She now serves on the board of Harlem Lacrosse.
5. PDX Marks the Spot
USA Lacrosse is headed to Portland, Oregon later this month for its Ignite the Future series. The area is already producing elite level talent.
6. Brian Holman is headed to the Cannons LC.
The Lacrosse Network reported that former Utah head coach Brian Holman is headed to the Premier Lacrosse League as the Cannons LC new head coach.

Nine saves are good, but this one is great. Henry Vogt helped lead Merrimack to a 10-7 win over Hofstra on Sunday.
