Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix for Thursday, Sept. 7

September 7, 2023
Kenny DeJohn

Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The death of a friend helped inspire Tom Schreiber’s MVP season.

When Schreiber accepted his Premier Lacrosse League Jim Brown MVP Award last weekend, he told the story of Colin Clive, a Siena men’s lacrosse postseason hero and former teammate of Schreiber’s at St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) High School.

Clive, who recently lost a five-year battle with brain cancer, changed Schreiber’s perspective after living his life to the fullest even with his diagnosis.

You can read Schreiber’s inspiring words here.

2. Can you believe the first Fall Ball scrimmages are this weekend?

Our annual composite Fall Ball schedule was published yesterday, with updates continuing to trickle in over the next couple months. Pitt women’s lacrosse hosts a Play Day on Saturday, ushering in another fall competition season.

Full schedule here.

3. If you’re on TikTok, you’ve probably seen “The Drip King.”

Caleb Hammett is still getting used to the fame and notoriety associated with his character on social media, which has garnered him nearly 3 million followers across all platforms. The UMass faceoff specialist is on a journey to find happiness while his fame grows.
