Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix for Tuesday, Jan. 3

January 2, 2023
Beth Ann Mayer

Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The PLL schedule is out — and it’s taking lacrosse all over the U.S.

The 2023 schedule spans every corner of the country, from Boston to Charlotte to the Pacific Northwest. The slate, which includes 10 regular-season, three postseason and one all-star weekend, begins June 9 at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte. The following weekend will take teams to the new facilities at the Ohio State University. Gillette Stadium (Boston) will host the quarterfinals. James M. Shuart Stadium (Long Island) is the host site for the semifinals, and the championship game will be at Subaru Park (Philadelphia). Tickets are not on sale yet, but you can start marking your calendar with the full schedule here

2. Redwoods tap John Grant as an assistant coach.

Two-time MLL MVP and Pro Lacrosse Hall of Famer John Grant, Jr. will travel the country during the PLL season. The Redwoods hired him as an assistant coach. Grant Jr. is a five-time MLL champion. Learn more

3. Buffalo hands Halifax its first loss of the season.

Only one undefeated team remains in the NLL — Rochester, which was off last weekend. The Bandits took down the Thunderbirds 18-13 on Friday, moving both teams to 2-1 on the season. San Diego beat Calgary 17-14 on Friday, and Saskatchewan edged Panther City 11-9 in the lone New Year’s Eve game.
