Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world
1. The Premier Lacrosse League announced the date and broadcast information for the 2023 PLL College Draft. The draft will air live May 9 at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPNU. ESPN analyst Paul Carcaterra has Cornell defenseman Gavin Adler going No. 1 overall on his big board of prospects.
2. Cornell bounced back in a big way Tuesday. Coming off a 10-8 upset loss to Harvard, the seventh-ranked Big Red exploded for 10 unanswered goals in a 21-11 victory over Marquette. CJ Kirst led the way once again with six goals and two assists.
3. Boston College is still the toast of Beantown. Jenn Medjid scored seven goals to lead the fifth-ranked Eagles to a 19-8 win over Boston University, which could not sustain the momentum from its upset of Navy over the weekend.
In other women’s lacrosse action Tuesday:
East Carolina had defending NCAA champion North Carolina on the ropes in the fourth quarter, but the fourth-ranked Tar Heels scored six unanswered goals to escape with a 12-9 road win. Nicole Humphrey tallied a game-high four goals.
Duke snapped a two-game skid with a decisive 20-10 win over visiting High Point.
Dartmouth defeated UMass-Lowell 16-7 and Virginia Tech beat Old Dominion 8-4.
4. There’s a new No. 1 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25. Led by the Millon brothers, McDonogh (Md.) slots into the top spot this week after former No. 1 Brunswick (Conn.) fell to Darien (Conn.).
The latest projections from our resident bracketologists Patrick Stevens (men) and Jeremy Fallis (women).
“It’s like the sequel to a book,” first-year Princetonn women’s lacrosse coach Jenn Cook says of succeeding Hall of Famer Chris Sailer.
Legendary former Georgetown Prep (Md.) coach Kevin Giblin, now the defensive coordinator at Mount St. Mary’s, mic’d up during practice.
