Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix for Wednesday, Feb. 15
Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. North Carolina scored six unanswered goals and blanked Johns Hopkins in the fourth quarter, defeating the fifth-ranked Blue Jays 11-7 at Homewood Field on Tuesday.
Goalie Collin Krieg made 14 saves for the 18th-ranked Tar Heels, who beat Hopkins for the ninth time in their last 11 meetings.

The Blue Jays, who vaulted into the top five of the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s Top 20 with wins over Jacksonville and Georgetown, led 6-3 at halftime but ran out of steam.
2. Lindenwood made history Tuesday, earning its first win as an NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse program.
The Lions, who won the Division II championship in 2021, fell behind 6-0 but rallied for a 17-15 victory over Central Michigan at Hunter Stadium. Logann Elredge had six goals and three assists.
Lindenwood celebrated the milestone win accordingly.

3. Maryland goalie Logan McNaney will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in the Terps’ loss at Loyola on Saturday, Baltimore Sun reporter Edward Lee tweeted Tuesday night.
Goalie Logan McNaney of reigning NCAA champion Maryland men's lacrosse will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in Saturday's 12-7 loss at Loyola Maryland, according to a source. McNaney had an 8.31 goals-against average and a .531 save percentage in two starts.
— Edward Lee (@EdwardLeeSun) February 14, 2023
McNaney was the 2022 NCAA championship MVP and a USA Lacrosse Magazine second-team preseason All-American. The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter.
Binghamton grad transfer Teddy Dolan came on in relief of McNaney. A former three-year starter for the Bearcats, Dolan would appear to be the next man up for Maryland.
Sophomore Westin Schmidt and freshman Brian Ruppel are the other goalies on the roster.
4. USA Lacrosse announced a schedule of games that will take place this spring at Tierney Field, home of the U.S. national teams.
The slate includes 35 games over the next three months, including several high-profile NCAA Division II and Division III teams, the IAAM championships, the FCA Invitational and Next Collegiate League competition.
5. Reigning NJCAA men’s and women’s lacrosse champions Nassau Community College and Harford Community College, respectively, are ranked No. 1 in the junior college preseason polls.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING
Johns Hopkins goalie Tim Marcille was no slouch in the loss to North Carolina. He made 15 saves — his third straight game with at least that many stops — and broke the Tar Heels’ 10-man-ride when he launched the ball from 60-plus yards and scored. He’s believed to be the first Hopkins goalie to scored in a game since Stuart Jones did so in 1986.
