SPARKS, Md. – A combination of the top young stars in the Premier Lacrosse League and recent NCAA standouts make up the core of the 23 men’s lacrosse players invited to a training camp at USA Lacrosse Headquarters for the U.S. sixes team as USA Lacrosse begins the build-up to the 2028 LA Olympics.

The camp will be held from June 10-12 and will feature a public session on Tuesday, June 11 at 4 pm with no admission charge.

Andy Shay, the head men’s lacrosse coach at Yale, is back for his second stint working with the U.S. men’s sixes program. Shay led the U.S. sixes team to silver medal at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Ala. He will be assisted by Tony Resch, a former champion player and coach with the U.S. team who also has an extensive record of success in professional lacrosse.

Included in the players participating are two players from the U.S. sixes team at The World Games – Matt Brandau and Brian Tevlin. C.J. Kirst, Cole Kirst and Shane Knobloch have also represented the U.S. in a major international competition, helping the 2022 U.S. men’s U20 team to a gold medal in Ireland.

The training camp roster includes five PLL All-Stars from last year – Matt Campbell, Xander Dickson, Ryan Drenner, Colin Kirst and Matt Moore – and five players who ranked among the top 25 NCAA players in points per game in 2024 – Brandau (1st), T.J. Malone (4th), C.J. Kirst (8th), Connor Shellenberger (13th) and Jacob Angelus (22nd).

This will be the only training camp for the sixes team before a camp just ahead of the inaugural USA Lacrosse Experience in Indianapolis from Oct. 11-12, 2024. The U.S. sixes team will play against international competition during that event.

The U.S. Men’s National Team trains and plays using game-changing, high-performance equipment from Cascade Maverik and Warrior and best-in-class products from Enovis (sports bracing).

In addition to these partners, Gatorade, MedStar Health and Stryker are official sponsors of the U.S. National Team Program. Team training is also aided by products from Athletic Republic.

Funding for the national teams also comes from generous donors to the USA Lacrosse Foundation. Help support the team.
