The U.S. Women’s Box National Team’s first official game will groundbreaking in a different way as well. World Lacrosse announced the schedule for the 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships this morning, and the U.S. team’s first game will come on Sept. 20 against the Netherlands, a country the U.S. has never played in international competition.
The 10-team event, which marks the first time World Lacrosse has hosted a women’s box world championship, runs from Sept. 20-29 in Utica, N.Y.
The U.S. team, led by head coach Ginny Capicchioni, held its most recent training camp in late 2023 and will continue the roster selection process this spring.
After opening against the Netherlands, the U.S. will continue its pool play games against the Haudenosaunee (Sept. 21), Hong Kong, China (Sept. 22) and England (Sept. 24). The playoff rounds run from Sept. 25-29.
