Ned Crotty grew up on the rink in Minnesota and dreamed of a career in hockey, but lacrosse came calling at Delbarton High School (N.J.). He took his talents to Durham, where experienced the drama of the Duke lacrosse case, but also the thrill of a championship in 2010.

Crotty retired last week after winning two gold medals with the U.S. national team and plenty of success at the MLL and PLL levels. He thrived on the camaraderie of the Rochester Rattlers, and then later the Chrome Lacrosse Club in the Premier Lacrosse League.  He served as an assistant under John Danowski at Duke for years, but decided to move on from college coaching, as well.
