The NCAA Division III men’s and women’s lacrosse scenes now look vastly different, as the preeminent conference in the country has decided to cancel all spring sports.

“In light of the decision of many NESCAC schools to have students return home and complete the semester remotely due to COVID-19, the NESCAC Presidents met and concluded unanimously that conference competition, including conference championships, will be canceled for the 2020 spring season,” the conference announced in a press release.

The Amherst men’s team is ranked No. 5 in the latest Nike/US Lacrosse Division III Men’s Top 20. The women’s team is No. 10 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III Women’s Top 20 and will host Williams on Wednesday before shutting down.

Middlebury’s women’s lacrosse team, the defending NCAA champion, is ranked No. 1 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III Top 20. The men’s team broke into the top 20 this week. Both are unbeaten.

The Tufts women are No. 2, and the men are No. 3 nationally. The Bowdoin women are No. 17. The Wesleyan women are No. 4, and the men are No. 17. The Williams men are No. 4.
