The NLL is continuing to increase its presence in the digital world. Today, the league announced a two-year live streaming partnership with Twitter, one that will air a free live NLL Game of the Week and a number of playoff and Champion’s Cup Games through the 2018 season.
NLL fans don’t have to wait long to see the new partnership in action, as the NLL Game of the Week begins this Friday, when the Toronto Rock hosts the Colorado Mammoth. Fans can access the streams on NLL.twitter.com or via @NLL on computers, tablets and phones, whether logged in or out of the account application.
In addition to the NLL Game of the Week, an East and West Division final will be streamed, as well as the entirety of the Champion’s Cup. The NLL is providing options for a lacrosse community eager to watch the sport.
It's a lacrosse world that, just last month, made the Virginia-Loyola men’s lacrosse game, which was streamed on Twitter via Campus Insiders, the most-watched Campus Insiders stream of all-time with 680,000 unique viewers.
“This is a historic broadcast relationship that will unlock the great game and we are honored to partner with Twitter,” NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz said in a press release. “The future of the sports viewing experience is digital and this partnership will not only elevate the fan experience by making the game more accessible to audiences, but enable simultaneous real-time conversations and connections with other fans on the same platform. Another critical step in the League’s transformation, this collaboration is a pivotal opportunity to enhance the NLL’s digital presence in North America.”
The partnership with Twitter is another step in the NLL’s mission to expand its technological assets. In 2016, NLL partnered with UHWK, a company that makes player point-of-view cameras geared at capturing in-action footage.
“We are thrilled to partner with the NLL as Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in North America,” said Anthony Noto, COO at Twitter. “Our collaboration will allow the highly passionate lacrosse community to watch live NLL games and join the conversation all on Twitter.”
