Scoring the game-winning goal 43 seconds into overtime to lift then-No. 11 North Carolina over No. 1 Maryland, senior midfielder Marie McCool earns this week’s Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors.
McCool also assisted Ela Hazar’s game-tying goal with just 22 seconds remaining in regulation and recorded a team-best eight draw controls. McCool added two caused turnovers and one ground ball.
"I really loved the challenge today and thought the toughness and grit to come back from down two goals down the stretch was great," Tar Heels coach Jenny Levy said.
