It didn’t take long for the Denver Outlaws to replace BJ O’Hara, and they didn’t have to look far.

On the same day the New York Lizards announced they had hired O’Hara away from the Outlaws, the team thanked the coach that led them to three Major League Lacrosse championships in five years, then announced they had restructured their staff to make former general manager Tony Seaman their new head coach.

Seaman, the architect of Denver’s title teams, will return to the sideline for the first time since finishing his decorated college coaching career at Towson in 2011. He is the only coach to be named the USILA Division I Coach of the Year at two different schools (Penn and Towson) and is the only coach in Division I history to lead three different schools (Penn, Johns Hopkins and Towson) to the NCAA tournament.

 “Tony is one of the most respected people in the sport of lacrosse, and we look forward to the continued success he will bring as our next head coach” Denver Outlaws President Mac Freeman said in an article posted on the team’s website.

Denver also announced that it would bring back John Grant Jr. as offensive coordinator, while adding Matt Bocklet, the recently retired long-stick midfielder and five-time MLL All-Star, as defensive coordinator.

Jon Cohen, entering his 13th season as part of the Outlaws organization, has been promoted to general manager. Cohen previously served as visiting team liaison (2007), equipment manager (2008-10) and assistant general manager (2011-18) with Denver.
