Pat Spencer, the four-year lacrosse star at Loyola who announced he was pursuing a grad year in Division I basketball, has made his decision for the 2019-20 season.
Spencer, the 2019 Tewaaraton winner, will be headed to Northwestern to play college basketball, according to Jeff Goodman.

The news comes weeks after Spencer wrapped up his senior year at Loyola, falling to Penn State in the NCAA quarterfinals. He finished his college career as the NCAA Division I record holder for career assists (231) and ranks No. 2 on the all-time points list (380) behind only two-time men's Tewaaraton winner Lyle Thompson.
He took home the Tewaaraton Award on May 30 in his third year as a finalist.
In addition, Spencer was drafted to play professional lacrosse by both the MLL and PLL. He went seventh overall to the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the MLL Collegiate Draft on March 9 and was the first overall pick in the inaugural PLL College Draft by Archers Lacrosse Club.
For now, Spencer will focus on a full season of college basketball in Evanston, Ill. He had entered his name in the transfer portal back in December and confirmed his intent last month.
It’s been four years since he played high school basketball at Boys’ Latin (Md.). There, he averaged 14.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game his senior year.
