With four second-half goals Saturday, Madison Carter eclipsed 200 career points, assured Penn State fans that there’s plenty of firepower left after the graduation of Katie O’Donnell and helped the Nittany Lions avenge last year’s season-opening loss to Towson with a 13-7 victory.
Carter, a senior attacker, added an assist in the win, putting her at 202 career points, becoming just the 15th player in Penn State’s storied history to surpass the 200-point plateau. For her efforts, she has been named the Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week.
The Nittany Lions trailed 4-3 at halftime, but Carter’s man-up goal three minutes, 45 seconds into the second half ignited a 6-1 run that spelled the difference.
The Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week, selected by US Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors, recognizes the top performers in Division I women’s lacrosse throughout the season.
