The IWLCA held its annual Senior All-Star games at US Lacrosse headquarters for the third consecutive year this weekend. All three games — Division I, II, III — came down to a single goal with the South winning each time.
In the Division I game, the North led by as many as five goals in the second half, but the South rallied to win it 13-12 on a “braveheart” goal by James Madison’s Hanna Haven. Haven had four goals, including the South team’s final three, to earn MVP honors.
Maryland’s Caroline Steele added three goals for the South. Vermont’s Jenna Janes led the North with four goals and an assist and Marist’s Hailey Wagner had 10 draw controls.
In the Division II game, the South jumped out to an early 7-1 lead, only to see the North came back and regain the lead 13-10. The South bounced back to score the game’s final four goals, winning 14-13 McKendree’s Emily Nelson goal with 21 seconds remaining.
Nelson scored twice and was the game MVP. Lenoir-Rhyne’s Rachel Elmore scored three goals for the South. Leading the North was West Chester’s Sami Barnett with three goals and East Stroudsburg’s Taylor Jefferis with two goals and an assist.
In Division III, the South led 9-3 and held off a late rally from the North to post a 9-8 win. Gettysburg’s Steph Colson had a goal, three assists and four draw controls for the South to earn MVP honors and Rowan’s Maddy Bray and Taylor Gretz each scored twice. For the North, Dakota Adamec (Tufts) and Sarah Culver (Christopher Newport) each scored two goals.
