West Chester downed Mercy 9-8 in an emotional game on Tuesday afternoon. It was the “Play for Eric” game in memory of Eric Duerr, a West Chester student who died earlier this year. Both teams wore Lax 4 Life shirts in pre-game warmups and at halftime there was a brief speech with Allie Ward, Caitie McNamara, Madison Staska and Dr. Rachel Daltry with her therapy dog, Muddy Puddles, speaking about trying to indentify those in need of help.

In the game, West Chester came back from a three-goal second-half deficit to take an 8-7 lead on Maggie Stella’s goal with 10:36 remaining. Mercy’s Hunter Isnardi tied it up with 8:02 to play, but West Chester’s Tatum Altman scored the game-winning goal just 27 seconds later.

Trisha Baud led West Chester with three goals while Altman had two assists to go along with her game-winning goal. Isnardi had three goals and an assist for Mercy to top 300 points for her career.
