Whipsnakes’ Matt Rambo scored the tying goal to force overtime with 21 seconds remaining in regulation, then buried a championship-clinching shot 28 seconds into the extra frame to claim the Premier Lacrosse League’s first championship, a 12-11 triumph over Redwoods at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa.
The thrilling final capped an inaugural PLL season full of nail-biters. Redwoods rallied from a 9-2 deficit to take an 11-10 lead late in the fourth quarter before Rambo, the regular season and championship MVP, took over.
