Nearly 90 of the top high school players in the country will get a taste of international competition when the Brogden Cup renews this weekend as part of the USA Lacrosse Fall Classic at USA Lacrosse Headquarters.

The USA Select teams, featuring 22 players each at the U16 and U18 age groupings for men’s and women’s lacrosse, will compete alongside teams from the Haudenosaunee Nation and Ontario over three days from Oct. 14-16.

More than 1,000 players took part in the process to get down to the final 88 for the USA Select teams and it’s no coincidence that this event runs alongside the USA men’s and women’s senior teams competing in the Fall Classic.

The USA Select teams are part of the National Team Development Program, which launched in 2019 to begin establishing a direct pipeline to the U.S. national team program. The connection at Fall Classic allows the high school players to get up close and personal with the best players in the sport and the national team program.

Some highlights from this year’s USA Select teams:

  • The USA Select men’s rosters feature 12 returning players from last year — Luke Arrighi, Justin Brown, Sean Creter, Matthew Han, Triston Jewell, Nate Kabiri, Peter Laake, Tahan Livingston, Parker Love, Luke Miller, Joshua Peluse and Jake Vana.

  • The USA Select women’s rosters feature 16 returning players from 2021 — Caitlin Barrett, Kelly Blake, Lydia Colasante, Kylee Colbert, Kate Demark, Carlie Desimone, Lindsey Devir, Lena Doreen, Samantha Hughes, Betty Nelson, Madison Rassas, Annabella Schafer, Remi Schaller, Orly Sedransk and Truus van Wees.

  • Another player from the 2021 USA Select teams will also be on Tierney Field this weekend — Aidan Aitken, a member of last year’s USA Select U18 men’s team, is a freshman midfielder at the University of Maryland and will compete against the U.S. senior men’s team.

  • There are some connections to USA gold medal winners on this year’s USA Select teams — Madison Rassas (U16 women) is the daughter of two-time USA men’s defenseman Todd Rassas and Cormac Scane (U16 men) is the younger brother of 2019 USA women’s U19 star Izzy Scane.

  • There’s a brother-sister combo with John Devir (U16 men) and Lindsey Devir (U18 women) both competing this weekend. Their older sister, Kait, was a goalie at USC and Boston College.
