Zed Williams is understated, even quiet, but nothing about his game matches his personality. Williams, who grew up on the Cattaraugus reservation, has grown into one of the most dangerous offensive threats in professional lacrosse.

In his first season with Whipsnakes LC, Williams led the league in scoring and dropped five fourth-quarter goals to lead his team to a comeback in the PLL title game. Not bad for a guy in his first year with the PLL. On the podium after accepting his MVP trophy, Williams dedicated his effort to his late father, who died while his son was playing at Virginia.

Williams has a deep passion for the stick and for his family, and he displays both proudly every time he steps on the field. After winning the PLL title, he carried his stick with him throughout the celebration, paying homage to the game's Native roots. Williams, a member of the 2019 Iroquois Nationals indoor team, said he's developed an admiration for the members of the Nationals.

The PLL MVP spoke with Paul Carcaterra about his life on the reservation and what made this summer so special.
