The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced today the expansion of a seventh lacrosse club set to begin play during the 2020 season. The announcement was first made on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast by PLL Co-Founder and CSO, Paul Rabil.
“Today is an exciting and historic moment for the PLL as we continue to build our business into the future,” says Co-Founder and CEO Mike Rabil. “Expanding to a seventh team in our 2020 season will provide greater opportunity for the best players in the world, more access for our fans, and additional windows to scale our product offerings.”

The Premier Lacrosse League will hold an official Expansion Draft in February 2020 to decide the roster for the seventh club. Additionally, all seven clubs will be eligible to draft players in the 2020 College Draft in April. Further details that include the expansion club’s name, coaching staff, as well as the protected roster policies for the original six clubs will be announced at a later date.
“The PLL has quite possibly the most dense player pool when matched with the scarcity of active roster spots compared to any pro sports league in the world,” says PLL Co-Founder and CSO Paul Rabil. “Our seventh club will create more playing opportunities for the players, additional fan engagement for the league, and a wider reach for our corporate partners. Forthcoming, running parallel to this announcement will be one that explains how our seventh club will impact our regular season schedule, playoff format, and more. It’s an exciting time for the PLL.”
