Give & Go: Emojis and Starbucks with Charlotte North
This article appears in the July/August edition of USA Lacrosse Magazine. Join our momentum.
Charlotte North, an established star on the field and emerging one in the booth, dishes on emojis, Starbucks and the next quarter-century of lacrosse.
If you could interview any sports star — dead or alive — who and why?
Abby Wambach. She was such a spark for female athletes, how they’re viewed and women in sports in the public eye.
What’s your caffeinated beverage of choice?
Venti iced coffee from Starbucks, unsweetened, light splash of milk.
If you could call a sport other than lacrosse, what would it be and why?
Football. I love the X’s and O’s, the schemes, the plays, the deceptive play calling.
What’s your most used emoji?
The lightning bolt or fire. Something with energy.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
“Can’t is a choice,” from my high school coach, Maggie Koch. It stuck with me throughout my entire life and career. There’s nothing out of reach. If you decide you can do it, you’re halfway there.
You’re going to sail around the world. What’s the name of your boat?
“Dream Big,” to pay respects to my coach, Acacia Walker, who instilled that in all of us at BC.
What was your first car?
A Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Where do you see lacrosse in 25 years?
I see a professional league on national television playing in sold-out crowds in lacrosse-specific venues across the country. I see the international game growing to a point where there are elite pools of teams every world championship and in the Olympics. I see the Sixes game and the [traditional] field game in the Olympics as well.
