Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix for Monday, July 10
Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The PLL is back.
After taking a break for the world championship, the Premier Lacrosse League returned to the field with week four in Minnesota. The reigning champion Waterdogs are now in a three-way tie atop the league standings with the Archers and Redwoods at 3-1.
Despite winning just 2 of 20 faceoffs, the Waterdogs beat Chrome 10-7 behind 13 saves from Dillon Ward and four points from Kieran McArdle.
The Archers parlayed a dominant faceoff performance from Michael Sisselberger (23 of 27) and a second half surge into a 15-12 win over the Whipsnakes while the Redwoods got a pair of strong performances from recent USA gold medal winners Jack Kelly (15 saves) and Rob Pannell (4g, 3a) in a 13-8 win over Chaos.
The Cannons won their second straight to improve to 2-2 as the offense, led by Matt Kavanagh’s three goals and four assists, erupted in a 19-12 win over Atlas. The Cannons’ Marcus Holman scored his 300th professional goal in the Cannons win.
The 300th goal for @MarcusHolman1.

2. The road to Hong Kong has begun.
The 2024 U.S. Women’s U20 Training Team has been named following a three-day tryout over the weekend at USA Lacrosse headquarters. A total of 42 players from high school programs in 12 states (and the District of Columbia) and 19 colleges have been selected to move forward in the selection process.
“You were selected to be here from many, many applicants and should be really excited.”
