Quinnipiac University has suspended its men’s lacrosse team pending an investigation into alleged violations of the student code of conduct, Inside Lacrosse reported Sunday.
The university released a statement to Inside Lacrosse and the Hartford Courant confirming the suspension, which is effective immediately.
“This suspension, which takes effect immediately, prohibits all team activity, including practicing and representing the university in competitions,” Lynn Bushnell, Quinnipiac’s vice president for public affairs, said in the statement. “With the well-being of our students being our top priority, the university has zero tolerance for any behavior that endangers any member of the university community.”
Quinnipiac’s student code of conduct includes a wide range of potential violations.
The Bobcats, coming off of a 9-6 season, are currently scheduled to play at Sacred Heart in a scrimmage Oct. 5. Eric Fekete has been the team’s head coach for the last 17 seasons. According to Inside Lacrosse, the suspension includes all players and coaches.
