A report from Chip Malafronte of the New Haven Register states that TD Ierlan, the most prolific faceoff specialist in NCAA history, plans to return to Yale in 2021. This less than 24 hours after he was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the New York Lizards in the Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.

When reached for comment about Ierlan's eligibility and plans to return, Bulldogs coach Andy Shay replied, "That's my understanding."
Although the Ivy League has remained staunch in not allowing graduate students to compete in athletics — even after the NCAA deemed it appropriate for spring student-athletes to be granted an extra year of eligibility in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic — Ierlan reportedly still needs more credits to finish his political science degree.
Malafronte reported that although Ierlan was considered a senior this season, he never had plans to graduate with this class. Ierlan did not immediately return a request for comment.
