Fifth-year Loyola women’s lacrosse players Livy Rosenzweig and Sam Fielder don’t have much time left in a Greyhounds uniform. On Sunday, they made it clear they will not go quietly.

Rosenzweig and Fielder tallied six points apiece to lead sixth-seeded Loyola to an 18-8 rout of James Madison in an NCAA tournament second-round game at Ridley Athletic Complex.

Rosenzweig’s points came on six assists, while Fielder scored five goals and dished one helper. The 18 goals scored by Loyola (20-1) were the most against James Madison since the Dukes lost to Maryland 18-5 on March 24, 2019.

Rosenzweig also led all players with 13 draw controls to move her career total to 401 and break the program's all-time career draw control record that was previously set by All-American Taylor VanThof at 392 from 2016-19. She's also become just the second player in Patriot League history to break the 400-draw control mark.

JMU finishes the season 14-5. Katelyn Morgan tallied two goals and two assists.

James Madison struck first when Kacey Knobloch scored from the 8-meter two minutes into the contest. But Fielder’s first goal of the afternoon started a string of six unanswered that put Loyola up 6-1 at 4:15 of the first quarter.

Isabella Peterson, the Dukes’ leading scorer who was limited to two goals, broke up the run at 2:57. Morgan converted a free position to close the gap to three, 6-3, with 2:12 left in the first.

Rosenzweig found Fielder for the first goal of the second quarter, and Jillian Wilson found Elli Kluegel for a score at 11:25 to put Loyola in front 8-3.

With the score the same and 8:58 left in the first half, Shelley Klaes pulled goalie Molly Dougherty, a five-year starter who led the Dukes to an NCAA championship in 2018, in favor of redshirt junior Kat Buchanan. Buchanan had previously seen 98:25 minutes of play in six games this season.

But Dougherty returned with 2:03 left in the half after a goal by Chase Boyle that extended Loyola’s lead to 11-6. Morgan tallied the final goal of the half, cutting the deficit to four.

The Greyhounds seized momentum in the second half. Georgia Latch found Sydni Black at the 10:47 mark of the third quarter and Fielder a minute later. Fielder struck again on a feed from Sydni Black with 7:39 left.

Ava Franz scored for James Madison to make it a 14-8 game at the six-minute mark of the third quarter. It was the last goal the Dukes would score this season.

Boyle scored on a feed from Rosenzweig with 2:46 left in the third to spark a game-ending 4-0 run.

Loyola secured the first 20-win season in program history and will play in the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time since 2015. The Greyhounds will take on reigning national champion Boston College in Chestnut Hill on Thursday.
