Ryan Tierney was on another level Saturday.
The fifth-year Hofstra attackman posted 11 points on eight goals and three assists in a last-minute overtime loss to St. John's, setting a Hofstra record with his eight tallies. He finished one point shy of Hofstra's points record.
Down 17-16, Tierney scored with 1:53 left to assure a wild finish. Ryan Schaeffer scored what looked like the game-winner for St. John’s with 32 seconds remaining, but Tierney added his eighth with 16 seconds left on a slick dodge and close finish. Mike Madsen of St. John's won the game with 2:41 left in the first overtime.
Tierney was also a US Lacrosse Player of the Week during the shortened 2020 season after he produced four goals and four assists in a 12-9 win over Michigan.
