Ohio State started the season 5-0, but it had just one win over a ranked opponent entering this weekend. The Buckeyes had an opportunity last week to pick up a big win, but weather prohibited Denver from traveling to Columbus.
Another chance presented itself in South Bend, as Nick Myers as his team met No. 7 Notre Dame. Ohio State got the huge non-conference win, rallying to down the Irish 11-10 thanks to a top-shelf overtime game-winner from Colby Smith.

Jackson Reid led the way for the Buckeyes with four goals, while Josh Kirson had 10 saves.
Five different scorers helped Notre Dame jump out to a 6-2 lead at halftime. Brian Willetts scored twice in the second quarter to give the Irish the early advantage.
Down 7-2, Ohio State scored four straight goals to cut the deficit to one at the end of the third quarter. Reid had two goals in the run, along with tallies from Tre Leclaire and Smith.
The Buckeyes put together another rally into the fourth quarter, scoring four times (Jack Jasinski, Leclaire, Reid twice) to take a 10-8 lead with 3:27 left.
Notre Dame's Wheaton Jackboice made it 10-9 with 1:10 left, and after a faceoff win, Brian Costabile tied the game with 32 seconds and sent it to overtime. Smith provided the game-winner with 3:08 left in the overtime period.
Penn Takes Down Cornell
The Penn Quakers are a threat in the Ivy League. If they didn't prove it in last week’s blowout of Princeton, they made a statement with a 16-15 victory over No. 6 Cornell in Ithaca.
Adam Goldner’s game-winning goal off an assist from Alex Roesner with 18 seconds left sealed the comeback win for the Quakers. Penn trailed by as much as four goals in the second half.

Jeff Teat and John Piatelli each had two goals in a 5-2 first quarter in favor of Cornell. Clarke Petterson and Jake McCulloch added goals to push the lead to 7-2 in the second quarter. Goldner and Tyler Dunn combined to help Penn score four of five goals to cut the deficit to 8-6 at half.
Jonathan Donville capped a Cornell run out of halftime to push the lead to 11-7 with 3:31 left in the third quarter. Penn responded with six out of eight goals to tie the game at 13-13 on a Tyler Dunn goal with 5:04 left, and then take the lead shortly after with a Sam Handley tally.
Handley and Piatelli traded goals until the game was tied with 2:02 left. Cornell won the ensuing faceoff, but Teat’s turnover gave the ball to Penn with 1:17 left.
Goldner finished the game off a minute later.
Denver Gets Road Win Over Towson
Ted Sullivan scored the game-winning goal with 1:13 to give Denver the 7-6 victory over Towson. More to come tonight.
Wisnauskas’ Big Day Against UNC

The Terps woke up the College Park crowd with eight out of the game’s first 10 goals. Anthony DeMaio had three straight first-quarter goals, and Logan Wisnauskas had seven points in the first half (three goals, four assists) to fuel the 11-3 lead at the break. Maryland outshot North Carolina 24-13 and won 13 of 16 faceoffs in the first half.
Timmy Kelly added two goals out of halftime to cut the deficit to six goals, but the Terps responded with four out of five goals to put the game out of reach at 15-6.
Wisnauskas led the Maryland effort with four goals and four assists, while DeMaio added four goals, himself.
Penn State Wins Without Ament
Grant Ament has been the key for Penn State in its hot start to the 2019 season — so much so that he's mentioned among the Tewaaraton favorites.
But the Nittany Lions stepped onto the field against Cleveland State without their star. It was a test for the No. 2 team in the country, but one it passed on Saturday.
Mac O’Keefe stepped up to the tune of five goals to lead Penn State to the 15-11 victory over Cleveland State at Krenzler Field.
O’Keefe had two goals in a 6-2 first quarter for the Nittany Lions. The Vikings did not fade away, however, with two goals coming from Nick Wendel to cut the deficit to 8-5 at half.
Cleveland State cut the deficit to two goals on multiple occasions in the second half — once at 8-6 and then at 12-10 in the fourth quarter after a three-goal run. Each time, Penn State answered with multiple goals of its own to fend off the rally.
O’Keefe’s three goals in the second half kept the Nittany Lions in the lead. Colby Kneese finished with 10 saves.
Jacksonville Downs High Point
It’s been a tough year for John Galloway and his Jacksonville program with four losses by two goals or less, but the Dolphins are celebrating not only their second straight victory — but an upset of No. 11 High Point in the Florida sun.
Jack Dolan scored four times and Jacksonville used a big third quarter to pull away from the Panthers and win 12-10 in the SoCon opener for both teams.
Eric Applegate had two goals for the Dolphins in a back-and-forth first half, but High Point closed the second quarter with two goals to take a 6-5 lead.
Down 7-6 in the third quarter, Dolan scored twice in a five-goal run that bled into the fourth quarter. Brendan McKenna gave the Dolphins an 11-7 lead with 8:57 left.
Asher Nolting cut the deficit to 11-9 with 5:25 left, but Dolan’s answer sealed the win for Jacksonville.
Spencer Climbs NCAA Scoring List
Pat Spencer keeps making history. Saturday, the Loyola senior dropped five goals and added three assists to move into sixth all-time in the NCAA career points list.
His big day, plus four goals from Chase Scanlan, fueled a 12-7 win over Bucknell.
Spencer’s goal and three assists helped the Greyhounds jump out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter. Tommy Sopko scored a goal in each of the three quarters to make sure Bucknell trailed by no more than six goals.
Both Spencer and Scanlan had two goals in the second half to keep the Greyhounds in the lead throughout.
Jacob Stover had 15 saves to fuel the Loyola win, while Bucknell’s Christian Klipstein had 20 saves.
Yale Comes Back
No. 1 Yale rallied back from a halftime deficit to pick up its second Ivy League victory — a 15-10 result at Princeton. Matt Brandau continued a strong stretch in his freshman season with four goals, and Jack Starr made 16 saves to lead the Bulldogs to the win.
Three different scorers helped Yale to a 3-1 lead in the second quarter, but Princeton found its spark shortly after. The Tigers answered with four straight goals (Emmet Cordrey, Chris Brown, Jamie Atkinson, Beau Pederson) to take the 5-3 lead at halftime.
Yale came out of halftime strong, putting together a 5-2 third quarter to take the 8-7 lead into the fourth quarter. Brandau scored three straight goals into the fourth quarter to push his season total to 15. Will Renz and John Danigellis tacked on goals to make it 11-7 Yale with 9:57 left.
The deficit was too large for Princeton to mount a comeback, despite goals from Alexander Vardaro and Phil Robertson.
Marquette Holds on Against Georgetown
Marquette led by as many as seven goals and held on in the game’s waning moments to down No. 15 Georgetown 9-8 in BIG East play.
The game sat at 2-2 early in the second quarter when the Golden Eagles caught a spark. Luke Anderson scored twice, then Tanner Thomson added two more to add to a seven-goal run that gave Marquette the 9-2 lead with 11:30 left in the third quarter.
Georgetown began to chip away at the deficit with Daniel Bucaro scoring twice in two minutes and Lucas Wittenberg adding another to make it 9-5 going into the fourth quarter.
Wittenberg and Bucaro continued the run into the final period, cutting the deficit to 9-7 with 5:32 left. Declan McDermott made it a one-goal game with 4:20 left.
Georgetown gained possession one more time before the end of the game, but a turnover from Wittenberg sealed the Hoyas’ fate.
