Stanford celebrated the first Pac-12 women's championship with an upset win over top-seeded Colorado on Sunday afternoon. It was a win that clinched the Cardinal's eighth NCAA tournament.

The hero for Stanford last weekend stood in the cage. Goalie Allie DaCar held strong in the crease, making a career-high 14 saves to help keep the Buffaloes in check all day. She also led the team with four ground balls. That game, along with a strong showing in the Pac-12 semifinal, eanred DaCar Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors.

 

The senior had her biggest two-game stretch of the season when it mattered. She tallied 10 saves in the 15-14 Pac-12 semifinal win over USC, including two in the final five minutes to hold off a late rally from the Trojans. For her efforts, she won the Tournament MVP.

In the Pac-12 championship game, DaCar had six saves in the first half and eight in the second, helping the Cardinal cruise to the 15-6 win over Colorado. 

"I think the ball was just looking like a beach ball today as it was coming," Bokker said of DaCar on Stanford's website. "You have those days and I am glad it was today for her. She has worked very hard throughout the whole season. I am glad her biggest game came in her biggest moment."

"The defense was setting me up for saves that I wanted to see," DaCar said. "We know Colorado. We know their players and their tendencies, and we just scouted them really well and I think we were prepared. We've talked a lot about making history and that's what we did today."
